U.S.-based electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors has posted an annual performance report, revealing a net loss of $1 billion in 2025. In the wake of the news, the company decided to postpone the production of its first wallet-friendly electric SUV – the Cosmos – from this year to H2 2027.
To keep us invested, Lucid posted a couple of “spy” shots previewing what looks like a mid-size soft-roader with a gently sloped roof, a large spoiler in the back and drag-reducing wheels. The production is expected to take place at a new factory in Saudi Arabia. Once out and about, the Cosmos will compete against the Tesla Model Y in its market segment. This should give you a general idea of its specifications and price, because the company itself likely won’t be releasing any news for another several months.
Despite the hardships, Lucid still plans to launch an extreme sports edition of its Gravity SUV EV soon. It will most likely debut with the same 1,234-PS (1,217-hp / 908-kW) powertrain as the Air Sapphire saloon before it. The company is bringing the SUV to the Monterey Car Week, so we should be able to learn more once it starts.
