Mercedes-AMG released its “One” hypercar around two years ago, and it immediately proceeded to set a Nürburgring lap record for road-legal vehicles. It has now improved its own time by several seconds.
Back then, the car completed the entire 20.8-kilometer (12.9-mile) long track in 6 minutes 35.183 seconds. The new attempt took place on September 23 this year. Maro Engel, AMG factory driver in the DTM series, piloted it to the finish line in 6 minutes 29,090 seconds, beating the previous record by more than five seconds.
As a result, the Mercedes-AMG One is now officially recognized as the world’s first street-legal production car to complete the North Loop in under 6 minutes 30 seconds.
