DinMann, an auto shop based in Los Angeles, came up with a one-off pickup truck based on the platform of the 2022 BMW M4 Competition. It proceeded to sell for $93,000 on Bring a Trailer earlier this week – about the same amount as a new M4 Comp in the United States.
The project car is called M4Maloo in an obvious reference to the Holden Maloo ute popular in Australia in the 1990s. Aside from the name, though, it doesn’t appear to have much in common with that model. It’s still a BMW M4, just fitted with a bespoke truck bed, a carbon-fiber top and an aero kit made from the same lightweight material. Slammed suspension makes it clear that whoever ordered the pickup wasn’t planning on using it in the country.
A look inside the cabin reveals two seats wrapped in red and black leather and a carbon-trimmed dashboard. The 3.0-liter inline-six engine under the hood outputs 745 PS (735 hp / 548 kW) thanks to upgraded turbos and E85 fuel system. An eight-speed automatic transmission carries the torque to all four wheels.
You may have spotted this M4 pickup at the last year’s SEMA show, where it sported a blue exterior. DinMann says it was a wrap that was later peeled off, reverting the exterior to its stock Brooklyn Grey Metallic finish.
