Stelato, a car marque founded in China between Huawei and BAIC, has disclosed most specifications and pricing details of its G9 off-roader. It’s obtainable in EREV and BEV forms and starts from 439,800 Yuan ($65,155).
As a supposedly rugged vehicle, the G9 flaunts a boxy and brutal exterior with retro-style headlights and taillights, power running boards and a preparation for a trailer hook rated at 2,000 kilograms (4,409 lbs). The body is impressively large at 5,377 mm (211.7 inches), and the wheelbase spans 3,160 mm (124.4 inches).
Regardless of whether you choose the hybrid or the EV, the Stelato G9 runs on the same 800V “Tuling” platform and uses the same pair of motors to drive the four wheels with a combined 594 PS (586 hp / 437 kW).
The main difference is in the available range. The battery-electric variant has 728 kilometers (452 miles) per the CLTC cycle, while the range-extender hybrid gets 405 km (251 mi) on electricity alone or 1,366 km (848 mi) on a full tank.
As an off-roader, the G9 has an approach angle of 23 degrees, a departure angle of 26 degrees, and a maximum wading depth of 900 mm (35.4 inches). A roof tent with a side awning is available among options.
In line with the recent trends, the interior can house either two rows with five seats total (2+3) or three rows of two seats each (2+2+2) – no seven- or eight-seat option listed so far. In exchange for practicality, buyers get massage seats with enhanced lumbar support in the front row and captain’s seats in the middle row (when applicable). These offer heating, ventilation, power adjustments and footrests as standard features.
Like most modern Chinese vehicles, the Stelato G9 has three displays on the dash. Huawei provides most of the software and hardware, both for the infotainment system on board and the LiDAR-powered ADAS package.
