The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine would likely be the standard-output version, which typically produces 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque in other Stellantis vehicles. This engine could potentially fill a gap in the Grand Cherokee's powertrain options, as the Hemi 5.7-liter V-8 is no longer offered in the model. The Hurricane inline-six would offer more power than the previous V-8.
A V-8 engine is not expected to return to the regular Grand Cherokee lineup. However, a V-8 could appear in an SRT-badged variant in the coming years. Jeep previously indicated that a Grand Cherokee SRT is planned. A prototype Grand Cherokee with a modified Hurricane inline-six was shown in August, though it featured a high-output version and a system not expected for the 2028 model.
