Chinese car manufacturer Li Auto, also known as Lixiang, is switching its focus from serial hybrids to full-fledged electric vehicles. Three of them – crossovers supposedly named the M7, M8 and M9 – are running their pre-production tests together right now.
According to these images provided by CarNewsChina, each model comes in its own size category and boasts a distinct exterior design. The one at the front will be familiar to some of you, because Li Auto Design Director Ben Baum previewed it in mid-July.
The all-electric flagship of the new lineup resembles a minivan like the Li Mega more than it does a traditional SUV. Still, its profile is clearly that of a two-box car, and the company specifically points out that it is targeting the Tesla Model X as its main competitor.
The M8 and the M7 look much more like your typical crossovers. They are also very stylistically similar to each other, just like the company’s L8 and L7 hybrids. Size is the only notable difference.
We haven’t received any reliable powertrain data so far.
